Maryville Elementary School (MES) serves students in grades Pre-K through fifth and has a population of about 539 students. At MES, we are committed to providing a safe, conducive environment where all children can learn and reach their highest degree of academic success. Our mission is to work hand-in-hand with parents, community, and stakeholders to develop critical thinkers and life-long learners with world class skills that will meet the demands of being college and career ready. The learning community at MES continues to provide challenging, rigorous and engaging learning tasks where students become active problem-solvers in each of the content areas. Focus groups, small-group instruction, academic tutoring and reading camps are utilized in order to meet the needs of our children in varying academic levels and from diverse populations. As teachers continue to use research-based practices and innovative learning task, students are continuing to make progress. Data is collected from common assessments, benchmarks, DIBELS, MAP, Moby Max, SC PASS and SC Ready to monitor students’ progress and collaborate so that informed, instructional decisions are made based on the individual needs of the student. Academic success is priority for all of our students. They are celebrated during the Academic Awards Program each semester, C.B. Dobson Awards Program, Writer’s Wall of Fame, Principal’s Art Gallery and the Superintendent’s Art Awards Program. Students also participate in musical programs throughout the school year. Special Olympics is always a highlight for our students that are able to participate each year. All second graders are afforded the opportunity to participate in Y-Splash and all fourth graders are able to participate in character building through First-Tee Golf. Both programs are sponsor-funded for the school district. Our Spring Fling and Winter Carnival are great events sponsored by our PTO. It has proven to be a success for the past two years. PTO continues to provide outstanding assistance and support to our teachers, students and the school through fundraising and other projects throughout the year. It is our belief at Maryville that collaboration of home, school and community will encourage students to develop the self-direction, work ethic, global perspective, and perseverance needed to excel in performance and succeed in life. Each day, we work as a team to fulfill this goal. Thank you for your continued support while working hand-in-hand for the future!
