E.B.Ellington and our Advanced Studies Program are helping all students develop world class skills that are expected of South Carolina Graduates. We do this through the implementation of our school’s mission statement. The mission of E.B. Ellington is to recognize and optimize the full potential of each child through rigorous academic expectations, relevant curriculum, technology, and collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community. We demonstrate this mission by challenging our students with best practices and by continuous professional development for our teachers.
E.B. Ellington uses critical thinking and problem solving to develop world class skills. E.B. Ellington is a Personalized Learning School. We use adaptive digital content to differentiate instruction for every child. Each child works on their instructional level and at their own pace. We are also a Talent Development Academy School. Talent Development Academy is a partnership with the College of Charleston. This partnership affords our teachers professional development and materials on gifted and talented strategies for all students. Teachers and students alike have a growth mindset at E.B. Ellington. Through Personalized Learning and Talent Development Academy, many of our students are more motivated, engaged, and are showing growth on our assessments.
E.B. Ellington utilizes collaboration and teamwork to develop the whole child. Our students participated in the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Lunch With the Deputy Program. Students ate lunch with deputies of the Ravenel Community, learned about their different experiences and formed relationships with the deputies. Our students are engaged in Engaging Creative Minds, Garden Club and Robotics Club. Students’ talents are displayed through art, dance club, talent shows, orchestra, and chorus. We are a Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) School . Through PBIS, we reward our students for displaying positive behavior. We celebrate these behaviors with our Flying High Eagle Student and our school store “Eagle Mart.” We are the recipients of the 21st Century After School Grant and the Publix grant.
At Ellington, we believe the school, family, and community must share the educational responsibilities of our students. Thank you for all of your support in helping in the development of our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
