The Williamsburg County School District sincerely appreciates the opportunity to provide educational opportunities for students of Williamsburg County. We fully embrace and affirm that all students are entitled to a quality education in a nurturing and safe environment. Additionally, all students and staff are valued and respected.
The district has established partnerships with area businesses and institutions of higher learning. This helps to ensure that students are receiving updated knowledge of business and industry expectations and exposed to cutting-edge technology that will allow them to advance in their chosen careers.
We are concentrating on reading at all grade levels. We have incorporated various researched-based reading programs at the primary and elementary levels that will assist students in mastering reading, thus, increasing their performance on standardized tests.
Williamsburg County School District provides challenging educational experiences for all students. In addition to our regular innovative and challenging classes, activities are offered that embrace the arts at the elementary, middle and high school levels. The District has an active partnership with the SC Arts Commission and SC Governor’s School of the Arts and Humanities. The district’s Middle Magnet School of the Arts also provides students with the opportunity to advance their skills in visual arts. High school students are enrolled in dual credit courses at the local technical college to help prepare them for their chosen careers.
We are proud of many accomplishments throughout the year: We celebrated a student selected to attend the SC Governor’s School of the Arts; student selected as a Gates Scholar; student scored 32 on ACT; thirty-three students scored 20 or higher on the ACT; two students named SC Junior Scholars; two students named Duke TIP Scholars; a student selected to attend a National Youth Leadership Forum at Yale University; six students completed Williamsburg County Junior Leadership Program; a teacher named 2018 SC Entrepreneurship Teacher of the Year; a teacher named to a National Board, Kids in Needs Foundation; twenty-seven students advanced to FBLA National Competition; a school received Mock Trial Professionalism and Civility Award; a student named the 2018 Palmetto Pride Pee Dee Regional Winner; students artwork is showcased at the International Museum in Washington, DC; a teacher received a national scholarship for professional development; and four CATE students earned national welding certification.
While we are extremely proud of the accomplishments for this year, we approach the year ahead with a renewed sense of purpose and urgency as we work with our community to continue our quest for excellence.
