Dear Parents and other Stakeholders:
Like other school districts throughout South Carolina and the South Carolina State Department of Education, Clarendon School District Two initiatives to educate its students are guided by the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We are designing our instructional programs to help all students equip themselves with the world class knowledge and skills they need to be successful in the new information age of the 21st century. We have had an instructional emphasis for the past several years on personalized learning. Through various funding sources including the Race to the Top grant, we have been able to provide technology equipment and devices for all of our students. The one to one status has enabled us to promote personalized learning opportunities for all of our students.
We also have embraced project-based learning. Our students have been working in teams at all levels. This has been evident in our career courses and in our STEM classes. We have a district STEM coordinator who has been working with all of our schools to ensure that all of our students are receiving STEM instruction.
The mission of Clarendon School District Two is “Educating Children.” We want all of our students to become college and career ready. Three years ago we implemented a Montessori program in the district and today we have approximately 70 students enrolled.
Our district has a strong history of students participating in Career and Technology Courses through F.E. Dubose Career Center and Manning High School. Between these two schools our students are able to choose from among 12 career clusters with more than 60 C.A.T.E. courses as they progress through their secondary education experience.
Additionally, we have entered into a partnership with Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC) to offer our students the opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts degree while completing their S.C. High School Diploma. We have had 14 students over the past two years to receive the Associate of Arts degree at the same time they were receiving their high school diplomas. Others in the cohorts who did not earn their degrees accumulated a substantial number of college credit hours toward their college degrees.
Clarendon School District Two is committed to excellence in education through its challenging instructional and educational programs designed to meet the diverse needs of all of our students as they prepare to be college, career and citizenship ready in the 21st century.
Sincerely,
John Tindal
Superintendent
